Dun Dun Daaanana Dun Dun. Let’s go girls.
Again, all of my blog titles are song lyrics because my life is a musical, get over it. You probably think I’m kidding, but I’m not. You can even ask my roommate who gets texts on a daily basis saying things like “Show tonight in apartment **** curtain call 8:30 PM. MANDATORY for residents”. See? Not kidding.
Back to the true content of this blog, ladies night and/or day out! Having a close group of girlfriends is a must for me (especially when you live thousands of miles from home, friends are family). A. because I love to be social. So much so that I plan my down time. Like I put actual calendar appointments to rest on my phone otherwise I let myself get to a state of near exhaustion which results in a 30 minute giggle fest (does this happen to anyone else?) B. because as a female relating to another female can be one of the coolest things (most of the time). As girls we have so much in common whether we like it or not. This can make some of life's un-pleasantries (dating, mother nature's monthly gift, hair care, etc) a little bit easier. So, I’ve decided to put together a few ideas for you gals to do with your friends with a local flair of course (sorry non Dallas beauties), but you can likely do these activities anywhere you may be. Enjoy!
Rent a boat, yes you heard me. Grab some champs and watermelon (because, skinny duh) and hit the water with your girls! Honestly, I know this might sound like an awful idea because alcohol and navigating daunting waters (or a pond, a pond is good) never sounds like the best plan. However, I’ve done it and we only hit one other boat, so I’d call that a success. Plus, you get a tan. Note; this activity is best done in the summer. | Dallas - Lake Lewisville is the best spot for this kind of day, and make sure to finish off with a tacky marg at the new local Hula Hut. Such a gem.
Wine, chocolate, and cheese tasting anyone?! Throw on your favorite dress, add some curls to you hair, make a statement with a bold lip, and be prepared to have no freaking idea what you’re doing. Really though, they are going to explain to you the way each sip of wine should sit on your palette and how it interacts with the cheese and chocolate you’re eating. OH WAIT, please make sure to swirl and sniff your wine first, you have to let it breath, idiot. Even through all that bulls***, it’s one of the most fun activities when you've got your girl gang with you. You can likely find a local winery or chocolate shop/bakery - esque place that will coordinate this for you in any city. | Dallas - Chocolate secrets on Oak Lawn hooked a girl UP.
Dry Bar & Drag Brunch. Need I say more? What female doesn’t enjoy having someone wash their hair and style is perfectly to their taste? No one. Not one single female. Plus you get wine, so that doesn’t hurt. Maybe it’s because my spirit animal is any human being drenched in glitter, held together by spanx, a pound and a half of makeup on their face, and having used so many hairspray cans that environmental groups start protesting outside of the dressing room. I just don’t know. What I do know, this is always a crowd pleaser. And, I'm telling you, drag brunches are popping up all over the place. Basically, a drag show means you sit and watch men hotter than you dance like the queens that they are as you eat fruity pebble french toast and drink cocktails that have lollipops in them. Fun, right? | Dallas - Cedar Grove now does this every last Sunday of the month and they actually serve fruity pebble french toast, you’re welcome.
Just a few out of the box slash also very basic suggestions for you and your squad to try. Here’s another suggestion for you leading ladies. Every other month a few of my friends and I host a dinner, we happen to call it ‘Ladies Who Dinner’ as a platform to meet new gals. Having moved to a new city and for a non school purpose I realize that finding friends is not always the easiest thing to do. So, once every other month we pick a fun new restaurant to try out and the goal is for each person to invite new people so that you're constantly meeting new pretty faces. It sounds silly, but we have a ball. If you’re feeling up to it gather your closest friends and try it out. Know that sometimes we have 5 gals and sometimes we have 16, and that’s okay. Quality over quantity ladies.
Now that you’re done reading my nonsensical bullsh** please look at the ADORABLE photos below. I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely lady Dallas bloggers, and yet again working with the ever so talented, Megan Weaver. Let me end with this; who run the world? Girls. BYEEEEEEE.
